In addition to the long list of exciting events our local arts and cultural organizations have planned, the Greater Hartford Arts Council has teamed up with the City of Hartford to bring you Summer in the City: a celebration of art, music and culture in the Capital city!
In the spirit of our Summer in the City launch, we’ve compiled a list of local outdoor concerts and music series throughout the city of Hartford for you to stop by during your work week! Keep reading to find a performance close to you!
Monday Night Jazz| Performance Pavilion at Bushnell Park
Produced by the Hartford Jazz Society, Monday Night Jazz (also known as Paul Brown Monday Night Jazz), is the nation’s longest running jazz concert series and is returning to Bushnell Park for its 50th consecutive season beginning on Monday, July 10th. Performances are held in the Performance Pavilion at Bushnell Park. You can see the concert lineup here.
Constitution Plaza Lunchtime Concert Series| Constitution Plaza
Each Tuesday between 12:30 and 1:30, Constitution Plaza hosts a live music concert series. Up next on July 19th are the Tuesday Saints.
Summer Concert Series at Connecticut’s Old State House| Connecticut’s Old State House
If you’re familiar with Connecticut’s Old Statehouse, you may be familiar with their Farmer’s Market which runs on Tuesdays and Fridays from early June through late October. This summer, you can look forward to live music performances each Friday at 12 PM through their summer concert series. Featuring a number of artists including the Balkun Brothers, Mass-Conn Fusion, and Dixieland Stomp, you can visit their Facebook page to learn about each band performing in the series.
Music on the Plaza| Fishman Plaza
Inspired by our Art on the Streets series, we’ve partnered with Traveler’s for a lunchtime summer concert series to be held in the Traveler’s Fishman Plaza (the new plaza across from the Wadsworth Atheneum with the giant umbrella) called “Music on the Plaza”. The first concert will take place on Thursday, July 13th beginning at 11:30 AM with a performance by the Haneef N. Nelson Trio. Stay tuned for more updates and details!
Upward Hartford’s Food Trucks & Music Series| Stilts Building Plaza
Every Friday in July, Upward Hartford, the capitol region’s new co-working space, will be hosting local food trucks and musicians at the Stilts Building Plaza. Visit their Facebook page or website for food truck and concert line-ups.
Wednesday Night Concerts| Elizabeth Park
Enjoy the Elizabeth Park concert series with a performance each Wednesday night at the Rose Garden Lawn from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM. The full list of performances can be found on their website!
Outdoor Concert Series | Connecticut Historical Society
The CHS Outdoor Concert Series presents the work of the Connecticut Cultural Heritage Arts Program, a statewide initiative that documents diverse cultural traditions and shares the artistic creations and community cultural practices of folk artists living throughout Connecticut. All concerts are free. Grounds open at 5:00 PM. Details can be found here!
