January always seems to be about new beginnings: fresh starts and resolutions. However, in a world constantly changing in the blink of an eye, it can be comforting to know what lies ahead. Although we can’t give all our secrets away, the Arts Council can provide you of a sneak peek of what we have in store for you this year. Keep reading and mark your calendars- 2017 is looking to be just as exciting as we hoped!

  1. Big Red for the Arts: March 9th

Join us at Big Red for the Arts to kick off the 2017 United Arts Campaign and honor the Pryor Family for their incredible commitment to our community. This year’s celebration will feature special performances by local artists, signature dishes from the area’s best restaurants, and exquisite international wines and spirits as well as an exciting wine pull. Eat, drink, and support the arts! Tickets are available now!

  1. The Return of Art on the Streets: Summer 2017

Celebrate the arts and experience interactive works from local artists. Have a song written about you, paint a mini canvas, or get moving with a quick dance lesson. Keep an eye out for participating artist information and Art on the Streets dates!

  1. Building Strong Relationships through BVA

Business Volunteers for the Arts is a national skills-based management consulting program that pairs business professionals with non-profit arts organizations to help with high-level projects. This program affords arts organizations valuable management knowledge and new resources, and offers business professionals a unique development opportunity.  Interested in getting involved?   1. Giving in the Workplace & Our 2017 United Arts Campaign

Support the arts by hosting a Workplace Giving Campaign at your company or organization. Workplace Giving is one of the best ways to learn about the arts in Greater Hartford, highlight your company’s commitment to the community and show your employees how much you value them.   1. Neighborhood Studios: June 26th

Neighborhood Studios is the Greater Hartford Arts Council’s award-winning, nationally recognized summer arts apprenticeship program for area teenagers between 14-18. The six-week summer program includes an immersive, hands-on education in the arts, as well as career-skills training.

Join us for our second Arts Innovation Day at Manchester Community College, a free day of professional learning for arts professionals and collaboration with local business leaders. From marketing to human resources, arts organization professionals will have the opportunity to learn from the Arts Council’s corporate partners and how Business Volunteers for the Arts can help meet your organizational goals.
