We had an exciting year – all thanks to your generosity! Thank you for supporting the arts, cultural, and heritage community of Greater Hartford in 2014. Here are some of our best moments of the past year.
Neighborhood Studios
Every summer, over 70 students across Greater Hartford participate in the Arts Council’s arts apprenticeship program, Neighborhood Studios. Students receive training in break-dancing, jazz orchestra, photography, non-fiction writing, or film-making, as well as career-readiness skills.
CANvas
This year we launched a young professionals group dedicated to feeding your passion for the arts while helping you build relationships with fellow emerging leaders. Learn more about joining CANvas.
PARK(ing) Day
PARK(ing) Day is a global day where artists and urban dwellers come together to transform metered parking spaces into public parks. Check out some of the parks from Hartford’s second PARK(ing) Day. Artists included Nina Salazar, Amy Merli, Ann Cubberly, and Anita Balkun.
Big Red for the Arts
Big Red for the Arts kicked off our annual United Arts Campaign in style with more than 300 people enjoying fabulous wine and food from the area’s best restaurants. This colorful event helps us raise money for both established and emerging arts and cultural organizations throughout the region.
Here’s a look back at Big Red earlier this year. (Psst… on February 12th we’ll be celebrating the 10th anniversary of Big Red for the Arts. Get your tickets before they’re sold out!)
ARTini
This year our fall fundraiser, ARTini, became a costume party with creative outfits that paid homage to the Roaring Twenties and perfectly complemented our art exhibit and fashion presentation.
Art Block
Our latest way to help you get the creative juices flowing is Art Block, an event series combining happy hour mingling with DIY arts and crafts, proving everyone has creative talent. Here are photos from the first event, which involved pop-art screen-printing with artist, Nina Salazar and the screen printing team of Cinder + Salt.
Help keep the arts alive!
